Center for Southern Folklore

Took a trip to the Center for Southern Folklore yesterday. fortunately they allow you to take pictures.
so here are some of the picture from our excursion...
This was Aretha Franklin's piano

everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful always willing to let you know some great little piece of history, or the knowledge that had about the artist. a real sweet bunch of folks.

all of the blocks in this quilt were drawn by school children in honor of Rufus Thomas. The theme was Funky Chicken. after the children drew the blocks they were sent to a little lady named Hattie Childress and she made a quilt out of these blocks. I thought this was an incredible quilt!
